I get good grades , i have a 3.4 grade average but i still seem to be worried about failing in college. I passed both classes but it took me a longer time to catch on to the material than other kids. Open Question: Occupations working with animals, besides being a vet?

I love animals and would love to work around them. However, I'm not so interested in surgery and vet science, and I don't really want to work in a zoo. I have a 1.5 year old female cattle x now for quite awhile (4 or 5 months) she has stuggled to poop she does a few "nuggets" but they are very hard. It is okay to adapt a well-known quote from movies or other forms of media to have it associated with chemistry. An example of this is "Hey, Mr. Grumpy Gills. Just keep studying, just keep studying, studying, studying..." This was a quote revised from Dory of Finding Nemo.

Any good ideas? I'd really appreciate any one of your ideas. I have several sayings I made up, but I'm not quite satisfied with them.

Open Question: I've got some unusual neurology. Can I offer myself for testing & how would I go about it?

I've been tentatively diagnosed at a distance by a Dr. in the field of neurology as having what's called a "migraine aura without infarction". Some migraine sufferers experience alterations to their perception - fog, flashing lights, etc... I experience all of these, but don't tend to have actual headaches. It's still considered a migraine event, but no headache.

My perceptual alterations appear to be unusual in that I can control them almost completely. I see visual fog all over the place, and can will images to appear, and can invoke other sensations throughout the body and beyond.

This doesn't seem to be an ordinary trait, and so in the interest of helping science to better understand the mind, I'd like to avail myself to anyone researching in this field. There are implications to some of my experiences which are relevant to virtual reality research, I think this sort of thing could be quite useful. But how? :-?

Open Question: How to raise my low ACT score?

Hi everyone. I took the ACT last February and got a 22.
This is an awfully low score because the college I want to get into has an average of 27, and scores range from 26-31.
So, I took the test again today (but of course I don't know what I got!)

My ultimate goal is at least 27. Do you think this is possible? If so, do you have any suggestions on what I can do to improve?

My strongest sections of the ACT are English and Math. Reading is alright, Science is a toughy for me. How can I improve on the science? I always run out of time on the Reading and Science.

I've been doing the Princeton Review Book occasionally, and also have been doing some out of The Real ACT book.

I'm worried about my score. Did anyone else dramatically increase their score? If so, how? Do I have any hope?

You think we are crazy for not using medicine but we rely on god for our healings. We don't tell others to do as we do and we aren't against people who use medicine. But, I personally feel that it is strange how Christians pray to god to help them AND use medicine. Its like some people don't even trust in god. And you say we're unamerican. Also, some people say that christian science is an oxymoron, but all science is (and this is coming right out of the dictionary) a branch of knowledge dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws. christian science deals with illnesses by explaining how god created us, and everything created by god is good. We believe that god created us in his image and likeness, so man and god are perfect.
So since sickness is not apart of the perfect man, it cannot be apart of us. We just don't accept the beleifs of sickness. I'm not here to convert anybody or to say that my religion is right. I just want to set the record straight on what we believe. None of us have proof that our religion is right ( not just Christian scientists, but people in general). So don't go telling me how my beliefs are wrong.

My major is nursing i attend lawsonstate comm. college and I have been there for two years and I'm just about done with school. I took a history of physical sciences class that was 4 hours long and boring as crap.

It was a lecture class; people were literally bringing pillows with them, pizzas and sharing with the class, people ate and drunk almost everything you could think of that had caffine in it. You had people drolling on desk walking around the hallway outside the class people in the back were playing cards, on phones talking, texting, on the internet, on computers, on psp's, iphones etc.

It was a vending machines and soda machines outside the room and there were constantly empty from people buying everything out of them to stay awake

No one in the class ever stayed awake for the full 4 hours

and i have to take the same teacher for another class he's the only one who teaches it.

University of San Diego??
It's gonna be around 6 years before I graduate and go to a college, but I was wondering what the heck I had to do to get into USD. I really want to specialize (major???) in graphic, video game, or website design, or maybe marine science, but I was thinking of that as a class (minor?????). Yes, the color is inverted for a reason. It's better this way, because instead of looking at what color skin/eyes/hair I have, you will look at my features and it will be a more accurate guess.

Open Question: Question About Getting a GED?

OK, so, here's the deal:

I'm 17, I hate school...It's gone downhill since I started HS...and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to fail 2 of my classes this year, one of which is required for graduation, and honestly, I couldn't bear to take either one of those classes again.

So...My plan if I do in fact fail the 2 classes? Get a GED through a local community college program, attend there for 2 years to get an ASN (Associates of Science - Nursing), and then decide whether I want to transfer and continue school to get a Bachelors degree.

My mom thinks this is a really bad plan. She's like, so what, if you fail you're just gonna drop out?

Is it? Or is it OK? I'll get a college degree either way. Even if I do stick high school out, there's a good chance I won't go past an Associates degree because that's how much I hate school, and in nursing, all you need is an RN license.

Also, I'm in NY. IS there anything special I need to do for the GED?

The details I remember about this book was that it was sort of a fantasy and/or science fiction adventure. The main character was a woman and the most distinct feature I remember from the book is that there is this tournament people fight in to achieve their rank. In the tournament people wear sashes and the loser of the match gets their sash slashed in half. I remember this part because the one of the girl's mentors/love interest shows her his sash which has a very neatly sewn line of stitches on it where has been cut. Open Question: Canidae feeding amounts for a large breed?

So we just went for a nice long hike and decided to stop by my parents' house on the way home. My Dad said that Rocko is looking a bit overweight. I am wondering if I am possibly overfeeding him. We switched from Science Diet to Canidae, and I am feeding the suggested amount of 4 cups per day, 2 in the morning and 2 at night. He is a very lucky dog in the fact that he is well exercised, so inactivity is not the culprit. He has a dysplastic hip so keeping his weight down is vital to keeping his hips in good shape.

I don't want to underfeed him, but I don't want to overfeed either. If you feed this particular food, what amount do you suggest? I'll call and check with the vet as well, but wanted your advice as a supplement. Do you think 4 cups of Canidae a day are too much for a ~90lb lab?

I ask a question that is clearly slanted to my personal viewpoint? For instance, I am a creationist and I write a decent but not very well-informed critique of evolution. I forego the possibility of getting a technical answer in the science section, and ask it in the R&S section, where I believe the creationists are more in balanced numbers with non-creationists. I ask my question, and I get my hash handed to me by >95% of the answers, all which come from non-creationists who are astounded by my lack of research into the very subject I am professing to know about. However, in the <5%, I find answers that simply agree with me (usually shallow or off-topic) and so I choose one of those as "Best Answer".

Open Question: Dealing With Envy?

I am really envious, and it's tearing me apart. I'm a 13 yr. old male, and my expectations for myself are high. Unfortunately, things are taking a turn and I'm subconciously finding imperfections in people to make myself feel better. My cousin, 2 months older than I am, came over from Minnesota this weekend and I am really thinking that this kid is perfect....he has a great relationship with his step-father, excellent in math and science, is about 5"11, everything I'm not... I can hear my grandmothers--from both sides wondering how tall I'll grow. I feel self-concious to the point of near anorexia. I have crooked teeth, pimples, I'm overweight, short... Anything you can negatively think about a person is me.

How can I get rid of this envy in people..I'm starting to detest myself. Usually my envy ends up in fighting, and usually the relationship with the person being envied is broken.

Please help! I really want to keep my friendship with my cousin.

Open Question: Calling all GEO scientists!!! I Need Earth science career advice please?

Just been accepted back to uni to do earth sciences. I have to do first year part time over two years. The question is. I have been looking at jobs and i want a well paid one. What are the best subjects to take with it. Physics? Chemistry? Geography? Computing? I want to ultimately do something in relation to climate change or preserving the earth so jobs finding oil etc doesn't exactly appeal.

Ultimately i want to work abroad.

Can you please advice me how to go about this?Because i have a degree already an ARTS MA but i cant land a decent job with it and hoping this is more vocational.

Please help as I don't want to make the same mistake again. Ill be 31 by the time I graduate just if i get an honours. Will that be enough?

p.s is it wise to start looking at companies who i can volunteer for experience etc.

I just took the ACTs and did horrible in math and science. I had to guess on most of the questions. Thats only because most of the math was trig and geo. and the science was physics and chem. I havent taken any of thos classes in high school and I wont be taking them because I have my GED. I thinking that the only reasons i had problems with tem is because I don't know them so im going to try and take math and science corses at my community college to hopefully learn them. I'm in 7th grade right now, and I'd really like to get into a good private high school, such as Phillips Academy of Andover or Hotchkiss. Based on my acheivements so far, how big of a chance do you think I'll get in?

-Overall grade average:
Math: about an A to A+
Science: about an A- to A
French: about an A
English: about an A
Social Studies: about an A (I got a B+ the last term, but the rest of my term grades are A's.
-I dance ballet
-I'm on the school's speech team, and placed in tournaments(i do prose)
-I teach English to poor kids and at a summer camp in China
-I'm raising money to build a school for underpriviliged kids in China
-I'm vice president of the school, and I recently just got them student discounts at nearby restaurants.

So far this is all I can think of, but could you please tell me how big a chance I could get into the top private high schools, and what I could do to make me look better, since I still have 8th grade to improve. Thanks!

I ask a question that is clearly slanted to my personal viewpoint? For instance, I am a creationist and I write a decent but not very well-informed critique of evolution. I forego the possibility of getting a technical answer in the science section, and ask it in the R&S section, where I believe the creationists are more in balanced numbers with non-creationists. I ask my question, and I get my hash handed to me by >95% of the answers, all which come from non-creationists who are astounded by my lack of research into the very subject I am professing to know about. However, in the <5%, I find answers that simply agree with me (usually shallow or off-topic) and so I choose one of those as "Best Answer".
